We provide design services from masterplanning, through to concept and detailed design for all types and sizes of residential projects.
Outdoor Furnishing Consultation
Furnishing of your outdoor space including seating, shade options, pots and outdoor art or sculpture are an extremely important finish to your landscape design. Although the concept of these elements (or your existing furniture) is discussed through the concept design phase we are able to specifically source and specify these elements in relation to your budget.
Resource Consent Plans
In the Queenstown Lakes District, a landscape plan is more often than not, a requirement of your Resource Consent. It is important for us to take your design through the initial process of the concept plan so we can ensure that the plan you submit will fit with the final design. As many people find it difficult to decide on final details before the house has been built, we create a plan that only shows the landscaping required for the consent giving our clients scope to make some changes thoughout the final design stages. If you are required to submit a plan for resource consent then you are required to implement the garden in accordance with the plan. You will more than likely be monitored to ensure you are complying with the plan so it is very important that you get this stage right!
Commercial and Subdivision Design
We assist with site masterplanning through to detailed design for projects ranging from small residential subdivisions to large scale commercial subdivisions and developments. Services include site masterplanning, budgeting, detailed design and contract documentation and management of the tendering and implementation process. We use NZS 3910 Conditions of Contract for Building and Civil Engineering Construction.
Playground Design
We specialise in playground design for all age groups in both education centres and public spaces. In 2004 a New Zealand Standard for playground equipment and surfacing was adopted, so it is now critical that playgrounds are designed by people with experience and resources that enable the design to comply to these standards. We are able to help with the revamp of existing playgrounds and the design of new playgrounds. We are happy to incorporate existing equipment you may have and can recommend some amazing new equipment for all budget ranges. We can help you in obtaining price estimates for funding purposes and to manage the implementation of the project with input from community members through working bees if appropriate.
Budgeting
We can advise you on budgeting for your landscape project at various stages of the design process. It is worth discussing this with us in the early stages of your project so that you don't get to the end and find out you have no money left to implement the landscaping!
For a residential landscaping project, we are happy to work to any realistic budget. Ideally a minimum of 10% of the total cost of the building process should be assigned to landscaping (but don't let this put you off as we can design the landscape to be tackled in various stages and with various price options)
If you are worried about over-capitalising with the landscaping, talk to a local real estate agent or property valuer. The cost of a well designed garden should pay off when selling your property. At the very least you should gain back the cost of the landscaping but an added bonus can be that your property is a lot easier to sell and will most likely sell for a higher price than one without any landscaping.
Exterior Colour Consulting
We have an extensive library of paint colours and products and can assist you in choosing the exterior palette for your building or landscape features. We can provide this feature as part of your landscape design or independantly. We are familiar with the QLDC Reducing Glare Guidelines and also consider limitiations your render system may have as far as colours are concerned.
