QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Question: Our property is not in Wanaka. Can you design our garden?
Answer: Although we are based in Wanaka, we are happy to travel (and regularly do) to anywhere from South Canterbury to Stewart Island for residential design work. This is not a problem. To ensure efficiency and to reduce travel costs to our clients, we try where possible to limit our site visits to 2 trips. If we can co-ordinate another site/client visit at the same time then travel costs are split accordingly between the clients.

Question: At what stage should we involve you in our project?
Answer: The earlier the better! Involving us at the beginning of your project allows us to get more of a feeling for the project and may also help you in determining factors such as driveway placement and house positioning. It may also make you think about some things you hadn't thought of before. Don't panic if you have already completed the building, as we are still able to help! Don't avoid contacting us at the beginning of your project because you are worried it might increase the cost of our service, it generally will reduce our over all cost!

Question: What will it cost for us to get a concept plan done for our property?
Answer: The cost will vary depending on the size and scope of your project and your personal requirements. Once we have met with you to determine the brief and the scope of the project we are happy to provide you with a price estimate by email. There is no charge for this, unless it involves out of Wanaka travelling.

Question: How long does it take for you to complete a concept plan for us?
Answer: Timing depends on a number of factors such as our current work load and the size and scope of your project, however for a normal sized project, we would expect to get draft concept plans to you within two- three weeks of you signing a contract with us and you indicating your wish to proceed with our services.

Question: We need a landscape consent plan for our resource consent, can you help us with this?
Answer: We are very experienced at producing plans for resource consent purposes. Our computer software allow us to take your design to a stage that allows you to be sure that the overall design is suitable for your requirements but then we only submit the minimum detail required by the resource consent. This ensures you still have scope to make some changes as your project develops, whilst insuring the landscaping remains compliant with the approved plan and you are not committed to implementing the entire plan at the beginning of the project.

Question: We need a landscape plan for resource consent. Can you just put a few trees on a plan to keep them happy? Answer: It will be a requirement that you implement the planting shown on your approved landscape plan and your property will very likely be moniored to ensure your landscaping is as the approved plan. For this reason, we will only submit plans for resource consent that we know have been taken to a design development stage that ensures that indicated planting is suitable for your personal and site requirements.

Question: Can we just call in to see you at your studio?
Answer: You are welcome to call in to see us on any work day between 8:30am to 5:30pm. Please be aware that we might be on site or meeting with another client, so to avoid disappointment please make an appointment by contacting us first. If we are in the studio and not with other clients then we are more than happy to meet with you and to answer your questions.

Question: I would like to come and see you to discuss our up and coming project with you. Will there be a charge for and initial chat?
Answer: We are more than happy to discuss your up and coming project with you in our studio at no cost to you. We can show you some example of plans and talk about estimates and answer any questions you might have. You are most welcome to pop in but to avoid disappointment please make an appointment by contacting us first.
