Colour, geometry and texture have been used to bring this Wanaka holiday house to life. The client requested plenty of space for summer outdoor entertaining so informal seating areas have been created using rocks and retaining walls at seating height. The large circular courtyard area links to a circular lawn allowing people to sprawl out onto the cooler grass during the heat of the day. Gravel, concrete and sleepers have been used in combination to create interesting ground surfaces with emphasis on aligning doors and windows with landscape elements. At the back of the house, a secondary courtyard has been created with a pergola to allow the clients to escape with a book in a more sheltered & secluded area of the garden.
"Hi Georgie & Ang. I was delighted to find your article on 21 Hunter Crescent in Sept/Oct Alfresco magazine! Congratulations!!Great article & I am flattered. To be honest when I found it I wanted to tell the whole book shop, managed to contain myself & share it with shop assistant only!!! We have had lots of family & friends holiday there & all just love the ambience & wee bit of fun the garden gives. Myself, I just love getting into it-so easy to keep compared to my big rambling country garden. Keep up the good work & well done. Cheers-Barbs" |
